Statistically the hardest day in international racing to find a winner. And the Lexus has always been a great mix of horses pushing for the Melbourne Cup and horses just taking out a Group 1 at this journey. Cracking edition of this race with a wide open field. Good data and field quality to give some sort of confidence in how this race will be run. Really like the look of Patrick Erin, Downdraft, The Chosen One and Hush Writer to be the main mid fielders that look OK at the journey. Can’t see the leaders dominating the race, and there is too much acceleration in the middle of the field to give the back markers a chance. A few foreigners which always makes it difficult, but that’s been the story for a while now with these Group 1s. Liking the look of Patrick Erin and The Chosen One to make an early charge and fight it out.
