Unusually small field, albeit an open race, for this year’s Brisbane Cup. Hard to read the form given the spread of data on track and distance. Both Rondinella and Sweet Thomas are strong on our Statfreaks ratings to be the most suited for this distance. You could imagine McEvoy and Boss giving their horses every chance. No real speed in the race, and even if the rails are the place to be you would think that horses can come from behind. Sweet Thomas the interesting runner that has won at the distance at this stage last year, and that would be a good time for this race. Just needs to stay in touch throughout the race, and should have solid closing speed. If the on-pacers control a slow tempo, leaning towards Rondinella to be fit and ready for this.
Good Luck

RUNNER COMMENTRY
NO | NAME | COMMENT |
1 | Carif | Should land on pace, and knows how to run out this trip. Looks like the race might get a bit charp for him late, but still expecting a good run. |
2 | Brimham Rocks | Rarely see a bad run from this bloke. Great jockey trainer combo, and has won here before. Not sure about the trip but expect him to punch out an even time. |
3 | Rondinella | Looks to get the gun run mid field, and Boss is 30.4% to place from mid field in distance races on the JAT. Should be hitting her straps when it matters. Surely in the finish. |
4 | Knights Order | Looks the leader, and can control thatrace from up front. Expect him to be fit given where he resides, and if the rails are hot, he will be hard to catch. |
5 | Lord Belvedere | Long trip to make with this target, and hasn’t exactly finished his two starts up there well. Expect to see him keeping up but will need luck to be in the finish. |
6 | Romakash | Bit of a stretch for this trip at his grade. Looks to transit OK, but the data says it will be tough for him late. |
7 | Sweet Thomas | Won over this trip this time last year, and looks very well suited here. McEvoy the rider to find his way through if he can get off the fence. Top turn of foot, value runner of the race. |
