Great day of racing at HQ, and what better way to kick it off with a wide open mile race. Reasonable field quality, and favorites only have a 26.19% strike rate to win at the Flemington mile so why not have a crack at some odds. Might be a bit of pressure up front with a few notable on pacers. Eluding the obvious class of the race up front, but focusing in two down the list in Redwood Shadow and Hasseltof. Both notable Motor Kah rides, but Redwood Shadow is the pick and looks a very good chance in this race. Kah is 20.3% to win and 39.1% to place when settled at the rear of a field at this trip on the Jockey Analysis Tool (JAT). Combining this with the top turn of foot in the race, Redwood Shadow looms as a strong swooping chance. Hasseltof is back to his distance, and has a great record at Flemington. Just can’t see him running a bad race. Eluding looks strong but with some partners up front and out to 1600m, might be vulnerable late at too short a price. But, might not. Sticking with Redwood Shadow with the Motor Kah factor, from Eluding and Hasseltoff.

| 4 | Hasseltoff | Back to a more suitable distance for this guy, and should transit mid field. No one stat jumps off the page, just expected to produce an even run that should see him grind to the line. Can run a drum at a nice price. |
| 5 | Royal Order | Respect the old boy, and been around the mark his last few starts. Getting on in his prep though and on the back up may not be as ideal. Still, always puts in an effort. High ranking jockey with a good turn of foot. |
| 6 | Jesta Dreama | Good results coming into this race and always leaves the machine well. Will have every chance up the front, who knows? |
| 7 | Brasada | Racing well this prep, but a bit of a jump in class. First time at HQ, and coming from the rear with Oliver won’t hurt his chances. Expect him to run well. |
| 8 | Konkalikon | First time at HQ, and looks to run an even time. Just not sure about sustaining a speed that will be required later in the race. |
| 9 | Redwood Shadow | Can never underestimate the Motor Kah factor. She posts a huge 20.3% win and 39.1% place strike rate when coming from the rear at this trip on the Jockey Analysis Tool (JAT). She could have taken rides for others in this field, and took this one. Top turn of foot in the race, just needs to stay in touch in transit, looking for him to come flying home. |

Looks the leader, and William no slouch at the weights. 52.9% to place at this trip when leading on the JAT. Just needs an easy lead and will have every chance of landing on the podium. |
