Cold, wet, straight, May, listed and a fast tempo. Not many reasons to look at this race apart from having decent field quality and a time-honoured race. Have never had much luck reading the straight races, and if it wasn’t for Merchant Navy sending me into 2018 three Springs back – I would avoid these races at all costs. But, we have data, so we have a go. Fast pace, mixed with many first-timers down the straight-six will sharpen our focus on midfielders that do OK in the wet. Really like the look of Haunted to bounce back from his last start and get it done for Doliver. Top turn of foot in the race and really looks strong from the outside draw and do what he wants when he wants. Some other strong wet trackers in Great Again, Romancer and Miss Iano that may be able to make their run earlier and unsettle the leaders. Sticking the Godolphin to be the best finisher at the weights and data profile for this race.
